Support for Carers

The Trust exists to provide professional healthcare to those from Lewisham and surrounding areas. However, in many cases a vital contribution to the day to day care of those with ongoing health needs depends on friends and relatives. Therefore, the Trust works with local and national carers organisations to offer assistance to this important group of people.

The Trust's Commitment to Carers

Lewisham Hospital has a commitment to carers outlined in its Carers Charter to recognise, respect, consult and appropriately support people who have caring responsibilities for a relative or friend. It also ran a three year carers development project for which a report, Valuing Carers in the Hospital Environment is available:

Carers are supported by the Trust's Patient Advice and Liaison (PALS) team.
